About Give and Gain Days

At The Bay Trust our range of national and local projects enable your employee volunteering programmes to meet real community needs. Your staff will make a transformative impact on people’s lives, while also developing their skills.

Our expertise in programme design and evaluation takes the time, stress and risk out of developing and running volunteer initiatives. Our approach is flexible, we listen to your needs and offer a range of opportunities tailored to your specific goals.

Activities range from practical projects such as gardening, building and environmental initiatives, mentoring young people activities and social impact projects aimed at reducing social isolation, improving mental and physical health and wellbeing, and supporting fundraising events. Take a look at examples of past projects organisations have completed.

Give and Gain Days fit with the three core tenets of Permaculture:

Care for the earth: Enabling people to create a healthy earth through preservation and conservation activities.

Care for the people: An inclusive, collaborative approach that draws on people’s diverse skills and talents working together on key projects and activities.

Fair share: By governing our own needs, we can set resources aside to protect the environment and world around us taking no more than what we need before we reinvest the surplus through recycling.

Digital Detox:

Digital detox in beautiful surroundings in our Pines Garden, Steps Bank or Rippledown Outdoor Learning sites, which provide a sanctuary and haven that helps to promote team building. Volunteering helps you in turn to create a culture that encourages employees to share their skills, expertise and resources to enrich the local communities in which they live and work. This journey builds skills and resilience at home and in our local communities that will help us prepare for an uncertain future with less available energy and resources.

  • learn real skills

Your day is from 9.30 – 4.30 and includes an excellent lunch at the Pines Garden Tea Room for just £50 per delegate day.

Corporate volunteer & CSR projects include

Waterfall cascade

Four pools cascade down the hill to the lake. The bottom pool has a leak so it needs to be emptied and restored – bringing back an important part of the garden’s biodiversity for frogs, toads, dragonflies and other water-dependent species.

Fruit cage

This area will provide us with organic soft fruits during the summer and autumn months – helping us serve the freshest natural produce to our customers at the Pines Garden Tea Room and The Pines Calyx as well as excess produce for making preserves and pickles.

Forest garden

This area will promote woodland biodiversity within the garden – rejuvenating the trees through careful coppicing and creating glades to allow ground flora to flourish and taller grasses to thrive. All of these areas provide unique habitats for an array of species.

Clay rendering

One day Clay Plaster Workshop, learn how to source, test, mix and apply clay render to create a variety of finishes. It is a practical workshop. As you can see in the video this is a very ‘hands-on’ day of fun and team bonding!

Our leadership team volunteered with The Bay Trust, and I just wanted to let you know what a fantastic experience it was.”
