The cause: Why is our lake so important?
The lake in Pines Garden was once a life-sustaining water source and habitat for local wildlife. It was the first fresh water stop for migrating birds after months at sea, a home and breeding space for amphibians like frogs and newts, and an essential drinking spot for some of our favourite birds and mammals.
A few years ago our lake sprung a leak. We discovered that the lining of the lake had degraded, and since then the water has slowly drained away – depriving local wildlife of the biggest freshwater source in our area.
But here’s the good news: in 2027, WE PLAN TO BRING THE LAKE BACK via a restoration project that, if all goes well, will increase biodiversity and support local wildlife for years to come.
But we need your help!
Help us protect our local wildlife, and be in with a chance win great prizes!
